If you are eating seafood, then you aren't a true vegetarian. There are actually many different groups who limit and/or remove animal products.

I hope this helps a little.

"In general, a vegetarian is someone whose diet does not include certain animal products. There are five main types of vegetarians:
    1. Semi-Vegetarians aka Flexitarians
Semi-vegetarians limit their intake of either certain types of meat or the amount of meat. For example, they might eat no red or white meat (beef, pork, venison, etc), but eat fowl and fish. Or they might only eat meat once or twice a week. Someone who only eats fish can also be called a pescatarian. (Purists would say that semi-vegetarians are not vegetarians at all, but I have included them in order to show the complete hierarchy.)
    2. Ovo-Lacto Vegetarians
The most common type, ovo-lacto vegetarians do not eat any animals, but do eat eggs and dairy products.
    Subcategories:
    * Ovo vegetarians (eat eggs but not dairy)
    * Lacto vegetarians (eat dairy but not eggs)
    3. Vegans
Vegans eat no animal products - no eggs, no dairy, no honey, etc.
    4. Raw/Living Foodists
Raw or Living Foodists eat only raw food, because enzymes are destroyed by normal cooking processes.
    5. Fruitarians
Fruitarians eat only fruit, fruit-like vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers), and sometimes seeds and nuts."

    • isn't honey a by product of bees? it's not baby bees or the bees themselves..why would people not consider consuming it?

    • I think that vegans look at honey the same way they look at milk and eggs. Neither of those are living either, but the treatment of the cows, chickens and bees isn't always done in a humane way. I'm not a vegan, so I haven't really studied the honey no honey thing. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian and will only purchase dairy and eggs from local farmers who feed their cows and chickens a vegetarian diet. I also keep tabs on the treatment of the animals and the conditions that they live in.

    • i understand eggs..cause they are potential babies..but the honey thing won't register lol

milk..i get it..in order to get the milk out you have to in a way molest the cow..

with honey..you take the combs out..they dont need it (i'm assuming)..they just make more
      but ok

    • Perhaps the best reason to abstain from honey is because the bees have a much more important job than making honey for people. Bees increase the productivity of our crops through pollenation, and they do it without human labor. If bees die out, it will take much more labor to produce the same amount of crops. When we take the bees' honey and replace it with sugar water their health suffers. We need healthy bees to ensure a good harvest of fruits and other foods.
