Excuse me, but this reply really disturbs me. The 'biblical idea of a man's dominance and ownership of his wife'? What Bible are you reading? Mine says that every wife should submit to her husband *as the church submits to Christ*, and that *each husband should likewise sumbit to his wife as Christ submitted to the church*. Christ loved and died for the church- so how is that possibly saying that the Bible promotes a man's ownership of his wife? Colossians tells us how a man should treat his wife and I promise you 'dominance' and 'ownership' are NOT biblical ideas...

It doesn't promote that! That's the point! Too many people interpret it that way though, and domestic violence is one of the bi-products of their skewed understanding. I'm glad you don't see it that way.
