Help answer this question below.

Since the F-14 Tomcat is retired, would the F-18 Hornet or Super Hornet be sufficient enough to take over its job at the Naval Fighter Weapons School aka TOP GUN?

    Yes. The F18 Hornet and Super Hornet were actually designed to replace the aging Tomcats, mostly on aircraft carriers.

    • The Super Hornet was. The Hornet was an outgrowth of the YF-17 project for the Air Force in the mid-1970s.
