Why am I not allowed to answer comments to my own question even though I am not in penalty box? More people have this problem?

Do those who insult the Question/Questioner realize they are also insulting those who answer the question sincerely? Or are they clueless?

When AB members change their names without notice I think they owe it to those on their "Friends" list to notify them. What do you think?

Here's why I think points matter:
I give my time AND my knowledge to provide THE BEST answer I possibly can.
I think it's only fair to get some kind of acknowledgement and "payment" for that effort.

I thought the "points" were just a gimmick to get people to keep coming back to view the ads. I didn't realize they had some actual value.
For example, I just got a $5 gift certificate on Amazon.com for completing a questionnaire. It's not much, but it's real money. For comparison, how much are A.B. points worth? I'm new here and I haven't seen anything about cashing in my points for $$ or a new vacuum cleaner. :)
