Why does the start button on your computer close down your computer? why call it start, what would you call it?

    It is to START a process...on of those processes it to shut down the computer.

    If you would like you can put the TURN OFF COMPUTER on your desktop directly:

    Right click your desktop and choose SHORTCUT
    Enter the following: shutdown -s -t 0 then click next.
    Name the Shortcut (Perhaps SHUTDOWN)?
    Right click the new icon and under properties choose CHANGE ICON and change it to the SHUTDOWN icon.

    Now you have it on your desktop or taskbar and DONT have to START to SHUTDOWN.
