    • See, I loved the early Vampire novels. Loved them. But the later series and the witches books? Wow, that was dry reading.

    • I totally agree. I think her idea for the first two vampire novels was a great *concept*. But that woman needs an editor *desperately*. I think _The Vampire Lestat_ could have been 200 pages shorter. I think she had a huge influence by popularizing books w/ the vampire's POV. Like I said, great *idea*. But her execution, well, that's another matter.

      I've written an academic book, and two of my colleagues read and edited the whole thing, my partner read and edited it practically sentence by sentence, and sometimes, she'd just switch some words around, and the sentence was a million times better, and then the press's copyeditor went through it and had great suggestions. Any writer who thinks he/she's too good for an editor doesn't know one of the very first and most important things about writing.
