Help answer this question below.

Did the Recording Academy go overboard in awarding the Dixie Chicks five major awards? Was that maybe a political statement?

    Political...yes. But again...alot of awards shows give awards to the politically expedient rather than the deserving.

    Just like the constant pleas for music in the classroom was just a veiled comment that you need to keep overpaying for music so that the recording industry can give some of your money to your local school.
