You're reading If the beneficiary doesn't notify the Social Security Department that they're leaving the country, how might the department find out anyway?

I would agree, but I wasn't asking about illegal immigrants. What if a natural-born US Citizen leaves the country and forgets to tell the Social Security Department this? Moreover, are there provisions for those who never even knew about this rule in the first place? A beneficiary may leave the country and never become informed about this rule until long after they left. What happens to them then?

One is pretty well notified when applying for benefits what you can and can't do. Best to 'fess up now. How could one forget? In hopes they could travel out of country for pleasure and get paid for doing it? You will have to probably pay the monies back over time.
