I hope they convict the beneficiary of fraud if they are acting in a fraudulent manner....example: Illegal immigrants stealing identities and filing fraudulent claims such as being disabled , then moving back to Mexico, and having the US support them through the Social Security/ Disability system.

    • I would agree, but I wasn't asking about illegal immigrants. What if a natural-born US Citizen leaves the country and forgets to tell the Social Security Department this? Moreover, are there provisions for those who never even knew about this rule in the first place? A beneficiary may leave the country and never become informed about this rule until long after they left. What happens to them then?

    • One is pretty well notified when applying for benefits what you can and can't do. Best to 'fess up now. How could one forget? In hopes they could travel out of country for pleasure and get paid for doing it? You will have to probably pay the monies back over time.
