Has anyone seen "American Beauty" (by accident)and been surprised that they liked it? Has anyone felt this way about other movies? Which ones?

Though i had it's dvd for a year i didn't watch it untill one night i wathced it on tv and said to myself "Wow that was something, Why did i miss watching it this long?!". I'm not saying it was a bomb or anything, i say it is at least worth watching.
