    A frittata is a type of Italian omelette featuring fillings such as meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Rather than being folded like a normal omelets, it is prepared open-faced, and typically finished under the broiler. One of the main characteristics that distinguishes it from a regular omelets is that it is baked.


    A lesser-used method to make a frittata is to cook the egg mixture in a pan until the bottom is set and then invert the frittata into another pan to cook the top. Most frittatas are served warm, but there are some - usually in appetizer-sized portions - that are served at room temperature
