Which hand does a wedding ring go on?

    This differs from one country or region to the other, but in most of the places is used on the left hand, because the left is the "heart-hand" (as most people know the heart is located in the left part of the chest).

    I've never found an explanation like the previous one for the countries where they use it on the right hand.

    • In Syria the engagement ring is a gold band on the right hand. The same ring is moved to the left hand after the wedding.

    • In most areas in Eastern Europe it seems the band is always worn on the right hand. Not sure of any reason, just custom...

    • In former Soviet Union if you place the ring on the left hand it means that you are divorced. They always wear it on the right hand. In most western Europe countries will place it on the left hand. Best is when you plan to marry a person from another country than yours check it out.
