Why is propane measured in pounds?

    I assume you are asking this as it pertains to filling a BBQ tank. Propane is a gas at atmospheric pressure but when it is compressed into a cylinder, it liquifies. Since the propane is now a liquid in the tank, we need to measure the amount of tank volume consumed by weight rather than by presssure or volume.
