Well, weight is not quite the same as skin colour. One cannot change one's skin colour [that easily], but one CAN control one's weight. So weight does reflect upon a person to a certain extent.

My point was that it is offensive to generalise in this way - without any consideration as to why the person may have a problem with their shape! (Some people carry their weight far better than others!) If someone has a thyroid problem they are still viewed as fat and treated the same way as someone who sits arouns all day stuffing their face with everything in sight.
.
Equally we see skeletal girls and feel sorry for them, we see anorexia as a terrible illness - the person who binge eats has the same problem in their mind; an issue with food but the implication is often that they are disgusting because they are carrying excess weight!

Well, I do agree with you, though I take a slightly less compassionate angle. This question is like asking "What is your honest opinion of people who get bad grades?" Sometimes it's the person's own fault, and sometimes it really isn't. Other times, one can try to disguise their own laziness by claiming they have a disorder (ADD or binge eating, which are both rarely real disorders). In the end, we can never really know the reason somebody gets bad grades or suffers obesity at first glance.

Well I am happy to take the compassionate stance and wait to find out whether there is a real problem or just laziness - perhaps I am just against seemingly judgemental questions ;0)

I hear you; agreed.

well you cant really control your skin color so that doesnt count. People, however, can control what they eat and how big they get. and its unconfortable for some people to be around fat people.
