Good question. Satan wasn't always evil. His name was Lucifer, but when he did evil and became rebellious his name changed to Satan, which in Hebrews, means "adversary," "enemy," or "accuser." God is good, and satan is the archenemy for everything that God stands for. This means, he is against good, and for evil.

Supposedly(according to some Christians, but not actually corroborated in the bible) Satan used to be God's right-hand angel. Does that mean that Jesus was not only the "second Adam" but also the "second Satan(or Lucifer)"?
