When did living in a Democracy start to mean bending to the will of a minority instead of supporting the views of the majority, which is the whole purpose of a democracy?

    I'm sure that this is nothing new. And isn't likely to change. I think the blame lies with the people of any so-called democracy that allows the will of the majority to be compromised by pressure applied by the minority, or vice versa. Whoever the minority/majority might be. It's always been a mystery to me why people can't just work toward a common goal to benefit all the people.
