My boyfriend was having the same exact problem. After spending weeks on the phone with Xbox and with Linksys, he finally discovered the culprit was the router. ...Something about the version of router he was using. Also, it has something to do with your NAT. If it comes up as "Moderate" or "Strict" when you test your connection, it won't let you do those things you mentioned. He is, at this very moment, at the store purchasing another router. He's completely FED UP with trying to fix it. Hope this helps.

    • What kind of router is he buying? Ours comes up "strict" and we have Linksys.

    • That's exactly the type that he had. I'm not sure what one he's buying right now but he made me go onto Xbox's website to read off the list of routers that are compatable. Go here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/homenetworking/equipment.htm

    • Absolutely! I just spoke with my boyfriend. I told him about your "issue" and he feels your pain! LOL He just walked through the door and he bought a D-Link Extreme N Gigabit Router (model DIR-655 or DIR-665, I can't remember) I'll let you know if it works once he's got everything all set up and running. :)

    • Hey - checking on some other forums we found a solution that works with our current router. You need to DMZ the xbox. See here: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27670

    • Very interesting!!! I'm going to have to let him know about this. Oh, yeah... just so you know, the router works like a dream!!! :) No more problems so far. I will keep you up to date about how it does in the future. I know how these things can just all of a sudden go haywire and stop working.
