I was arrested for statutory rape. The father now wants to drop the charges, but the D.A. says it's too late. Is there anything I can do to have the charges dropped?

I researched cases like these before and the D.A. IS harsh, BUT the D.A. faces law suits, charges, and all kinds of things every day. By law, if the D.A. does not press charges, someone could come back later and sue them for not charging someone. They are saving face. You need to hire an attorney quickly and get this resolved. If the father willingly will testify that he drops charges, I'd think any judge would throw the case out, but then again, the father could get charged and fined.
