One last thing - if you're going to add more memory to that machine, you might want to consider doing it at the same time - the motherboard configuration on that machine requires that you remove the hard drive to get to the memory; it will save you from having to pull the thing twice.

You'll need "SDRAM / 100MHz" - it will cost between $40 and up depending on how much you get.

64 megs isn't really that much.

Again - you'll be into this thing for over a hundred before you know it. Consider a new box to save some frustration.

Thanks for the advice. Now I know what direction to go in. I will save up and buy a box. This will give me a tremendously better system and much cheaper. I do have a couple of other questions, though. When I am financially ready for my purchase, what is the better operating system - Vista or XP (home, professional, media center, basic, premium, etc.)? I would probably go for a 64 bit processor but don't know if I should go for AMD or Intel. Do you have any recommendations on a box. I would like something that is fairly easy to upgrade.

at this stage of the game, I'd go for XP and an Intel processor.

And If I were you I'd just go to Dell.com and find something inexpensive unless you're heavily into gaming.
