Question

Do you think it's odd that the most signficant part of Christianity surrounds Jesus Christ - a person who was Jewish his entire life...? But yet many Christians believe that Jewish people will not go to Heaven. Where did Jesus go after he died?

It's not odd. God promised in the Old Testament that the promised Messiah (Jesus) would come through the line of Abraham. He would be Jewish. Anyone who does not believe that Jesus is their Savior from is bound for hell. The Jewish religion has rejected Jesus as the Savior.
After Jesus died he descended into hell just to announce his victory over sin, death, and the devil. But he didn't stay there. He rose from the dead, so that we can have life in heaven since he conquered death.
