Is anyone who benefits from Rent Control against it? In a "free market" Capalistic society how does Rent Control fit in? Abolish it?

If your lease states month to month after term, does the current rent stay the same? they want to raise it 50% to go month to month

You're reading Last year rent was raised, and this year they're raising it again. Is it legal to raise the rent again in that short of a period?

Correct: the rent is 'frozen' (unless otherwise in the lease) & rent protections (other answer) are only for some residential
