he can be gorgeous and popular but internally he is insecure and he might think you are the only one he will ever have those feelins for or that you are the only one that will make him feel the way he feels with you

This much is true. I agree with Mystical Dim. He might also be telling himself, along with that, that eventually you'll change your mind and come back to him. It's a sad delusion that happens more often than you think.
