No. The "magic" in Harry Potter is in no way related to modern Neo-Paganism/Wicca.

    1. In Harry Potter, you have to be born a witch or wizard. Most Pagans believe anyone can draw on their own personal power and/or that of the elements to perform magic(k). Same with needing a wand. It's a handy tool to focus the mind/will in Paganism, but not absolutely necessary.

    2. In Harry Potter, there is no evidence that there is any nature-based worship (or, really, any belief in a divinity at all). Wicca in partiular, and Neo-Paganism in general, believes in the divinity of nature.

    • Good answer. Harry Potter novels do not address Deity or the Divine.

    • Harry Potter is directly related to the wicked religion of wiccanism. You're incorrect.

    • @101 Harry potter has nothing to do with Wicca, you are ignorant and wrong.

    • Why is it that the ignorant are the ones that think they know it all. @101 are someone who thinks the Potter books are evil? It's a freaking book! It's not teaching evil or to worship the devil! If anything, it teaches to fight evil! Why are people always looking for evil where there isn't any?

    • In Harry Potter the spells come out without a lot of work. In fact, I've always been a bit disturbed by the Harry Potter Magic seeming to be so easy. In pretty much every other fantasy book the magic users are somewhat drained just from casting spells, and in Harry Potter the only way anyone seems to get tired is if the spells involve a lot of physical activity. Anyway, this makes the Harry Potter Magic the opposite of Wiccan Magic. Wiccan Magic requires a lot of concentration and often physical exertion just to achieve a lot less (though sometimes quite a bit more) than Harry Potter Magic.
