Does anyone know how to make a softbox, I dont have a flashgun so would need to use some other light source, any help would be greatly appreciated as all i can find is information on flash mounted ones?

    DIYPhotography.net has several articles on how to make your own photography equipment. A softbox is actually very simple to make! There is a pattern and an article on how to accomplish it here:

    Basically, you need some fairly firm material to build the box out of. The rectangle at the back of the box needs to be smaller than the front, so that the sides of the box direct the light towards the front. You can use several things to cover the front of the box. The best is diffusion paper or gels that you can get at a photo supply store, but I've seen white pillowcases or wax paper used as well.

    Note that you can make any of these softboxes as non-flash mounted ones as well, you just need a very bright light source... halogen lights are very bright, but also very very hot, and flourescent lights put out a different color signature than incandescent light.
