Do Jews believe, or have Jews ever believed, the Messiah will/would be born to a virgin?

    No. The Jewish religion has no such belief in a virgin birth. The word for virginity would be "betulah". The world "almah" is simply a young woman.

    In fact, a child born of a virgin birth would likely be considered a bastard child and having lower standing in Jewish traditions.

    • How do you explain the curse on Jeconiah preventing anyone from David's line to sit on the throne? Without a virgin birth this would prevent anyone from being the Messiah.

      Also I agree with the word "almah" meaning a young woman, however in the septuagint there is another word for virgin where as in Hebrew almah is the only one that can be used. Furthermore, if it just means a young woman then what kind of sign would that be? Young women have babies every day, a very common thing. Thanks for listening to my point.
