If you mean, how can you tell when it's time to end the feeding session, I would have to tell you that it's when your baby has stopped sucking. When he/she no longer seems interested in feeding, i.e. starts looking around the room or playing with his hands then that's usually a cue to stop. Of course some babies like to keep sucking for soothing-sake but he/she will most likely stop if he/she is not hungry. If the baby falls asleep and has long been on your breast, then I would assume it's safe to slowly, and ever so gently, remove the baby (using the pinky method) and place him in his sleeping area. By pinky method I mean slipping your pinky (barely) on the corner of his mouth and getting his lips off your breast.
