I have a query about the possible underhanded tactics of Apple, please read description for more details.......

I have an iPhone 3GS, and a 2nd generation iPod Touch. The 3GS is still quite decent, it can run most apps that the 4 can run, but my 2nd gen iPod does not run a lot of apps due to it's age.
Anyway, my son is playing with the iPod early on Friday morning, and it freezes, with no possible way of fixing it, apart from letting the battery run dry and recharging it again. So I go to the Apple website to see if others had similar problems, and lo and behold, what am I faced with when I visit their site? A big advert saying "THE DAY YOU'VE WAITED 364 DAYS FOR, THE APPLE ONE DAY SALE".
Now my question is this, did Apple install something in older devices (likely during an update) to ensure they break on the day they have their one day sale, in order to tempt people who are already contemplating an upgrade to get a new iDevice?

No, but microsoft secretly makes virus's and all kinds of malware to make pc users dependent on security suites and subscriptions for virus protection.

I have a 2nd and 4th gen ipod touch, both working well. Whenever an ipod freezes, either reset or if that fails restore it.

Best to stick with reputable apple forums to avoid annoying ads like that one too.

Anyway it's normal for most electronics, non apple even more so to break down after a couple few years.
Also if the device was jailbroke(which is non apple software) then it's highly prone to problems, that is why apple voids warranties on jailbroken iDevices.

Just take the ipod down to the apple store genius bar, they won't charge you to diagnose the problem, only to fix the out of warranty repair, that may or may not be needed
