I want to cash out my 401k to pay my student loans so my husband can't get half once we process our divorce. Can I do this without him having a claim to that money after our divorce?

    This question is way-y-y-y too general to get an effective answer. Do you live in a community property state? Were you married while you were earning that money? Were you married when you incurred those student loans? The answers to all these questions will impact that situation. Get one of the "Dummies" books or the "Complete Idiots" books on the subject of divorce and start reading.
