Why does Google filter political speech in China, but not child pornography in the United States?

    Wow, what a bunch of wimps. If you google for "child pornography" you will get a list of articles about the child pornography problem and a bunch of news headlines about child pornographers being arrested.

    Why is anyone afraid to google it? You can't be arrested for googling it. Only for downloading it.

    And Google does not filter political speech in China. It allows the Chinese government to do so because Google figures it is better for Chinese freedom to allow at least some information in, instead of nothing at all.
