Question

Help answer this question below.

I'm an English teacher and I think one of my students fancies me. She even got me an autographed picture from Chewy when she went to Comic-Con. What is the proper way of approaching her about this? Do I simply leave it alone?

It's not unusual for a student to develop a "crush" on a teacher. I wouldn't do anything at all, if you report it to the principle it may cause her embarrassment and discomfort in your class. What if she doesn't have a crush and you are mistaking like and respect for something else? I would just continue treating her the same as the rest of your students. More often than not crushes fade and they become interested in someone else. However, if the situation becomes more intense and you are left with no doubt as to her feelings, you need to have a talk with her, a very gentle, but firm, talk. There is a line here that should not be crossed.
