Generally, 1 jigger or shot (1 1/2 ounces) of liquor (gin, rum, vodka and whiskey) contains: 97 calories and 14 grams alcohol. A 12 oz. beer has 150 calories and a 5 oz. glass of wine has 100 calories.

For a low-cal mixed drink you could try a Rum and Diet Coke (the Diet Coke has no calories) or mix the alcohol with any type of diet soda or club soda. Mixed drinks made with fruit juices will add calories and many frozen mixed drinks (daquiries, pina coladas, etc.) also have a lot of sugar added. This in turns raises the caloric content.
