    Latitude is your north-south position on the surface of a planet. It is measured in degrees from the equator and has a maximum value of 90° at the poles.

    • Nice and succinct, Glenn. Latitude is often referred t as a 'parallel' s if you can remember the 49th parallel, you have latitude sorted. The other measurement, btw, is longitude and is measured from Greenwich.
