    WWII

Yes and No. History suggests Russia and Britain were slowly winning before America even entered the Atlantic battle. However America SELLING supplies to Britain and Russia was a massive help.

Without Russia Germany would have won
Without Great Britain Germany would have won
Without America selling supplies to Russia and Britain Germany MIGHT have won

America entering the Atlantic part of WWII was not a turning point, it would appear that it was because WWII finished 11 months after D-Day, but in truth America helping Russia and Britain fight Germany only ended the war sooner. Here is a timeline to show important battles/events.

    1st September 1939 – GERMANY INVADES POLAND

3rd September 1939 – BRITAIN DECLARES WAR ON GERMANY

31st October 1940 (Western Front) – Battle of Britain. Britain successfully defeated the German Air Force and stopped the invasion of Britain. This was the first German defeat since the start of WWII. Germany had already conquered Poland, Denmark, Norway, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Yugoslavia, Greece, and Vichy France. If Britain had of lost the Battle of Britain WWII would almost certainly have been over. Germany never attacked England directly again.

    22nd June 1941 – GERMANY INVADES RUSSIA

6th December 1941 (Eastern Front) – Russia successfully pushes Germany back away from Moscow. This was the first time Germany had to make a massive retreat on the Eastern Front and is seen as the turning point of WWII (as the allies were now winning for the first time since the start of WWII)

7th December 1941 – JAPAN ATTACKS PEARL HARBOUR

8th December 1941 - AMERICA DECLARES WAR ON JAPAN

11th December 1941 – GERMANY DECLARES WAR ON AMERICA

5th November 1942 (African Front) - Second Battle of El Alamein. Britain successfully defeated Germany in the Second Battle of El Alamein and this was again another turning point in WWII as this defeat closed the African front which Germany was previously in control of.

2nd February 1943 (Eastern Front) - Battle of Stalingrad. Russia successfully defeated Germany in the Battle of Stalingrad which was a massive turning point in WWII for the Allies as this was Germany’s first massive defeat. All of the divisions of the German army fighting at Stalingrad were either defeated or surrendered.

19 February 1943 (African Front) - Battle of the Kasserine Pass. This was the first time America fought against Germany and even thought they made a lot of mistakes and lost over 65% of their division they were given support in the form of the superior trained British and French military.

6th June 1944 (Western Front) – D-Day. The largest amphibious invasion of all time consisting of 83,000 British and other European soldiers in Britain and 73,000 American Soldiers who landed in Britain earlier in the year. With these troops were almost 200,000 naval crew spread over 6,000 ships. Less than 11 months later Germany would surrender.
