  • Your HD TV surely has multiple inputs, it would be a rare cheap unit which does not. Hook up the CATV converter to one input, and your other source (antenna?) to another. You cannot simply bypass the CATV converter -- it has electronics which not only tune the incoming signals but also authorize you to watch certain channels but not others -- the CATV company is not going to share that power with your TV set.
  • Same thing as the last answer, but split the cable signal going into the box, with one line going into the box, and one directly into the TV, and switch between inputs when you want to use your tv's tuner.
