They are labor-intensive, especially if you are talking about shelled nuts. Brazil nuts and Macadamia nuts have extremely hard shells. Pine nuts are very small and while they have thin shells, it takes a very long time to shell them. Picking them, processing them, preparing them for market...time time time time time. It's not like picking fruit..you pick the fruit and it can go to market. Nuts take processing! :)

Well, I'm kind of attatched to mine. They're not really for sale. Seriously though, they are just labor intensive to get. Plus with the raising gas prices, I'm sure that probably doesn't help much either.

Someone got me a Big Coffee size can of peanuts for Xmas once and people came in and spunged all of em.........yes too expensive to let other people spunge but only if they're spunge worthy..........like you............your spunge worthiness would require the whole can.
