Winder: Member of the First Presidency, Pioneer, Temple Builder, Dairyman" Any temple builder in Utah is a Mormon. Also, as per the company web page, the top executives have very deep Utah connections. I would say it is a safe bet that the firm continues to have a connection even if nothing more than the key players in the company are Mormon.

  • With the high percentage of people in Utah being LDS, the chances of many businesses and/or farms being owned by Mormons is pretty high. In fact, I wouldn't doubt if there were Mormons in California, other parts of the U.S., and even other countries who own businesses. People from all religions are businessmen. I don't understand what the significance is if a farm is owned by Mormons. Now if you mean, is the farm owned by the LDS Church, that is another question. The LDS Church used to own several farms which they used as part of their welfare system. As a young boy, I donated a lot of time on the welfare farm run by our stake. The cattle, hay, and beets produced by the farm were used in assisting the poor. They also own canneries and Bishop's storehouses. The poorer members of the Church can get food from the Bishop's storeshoses when needed by going through the bishop of their ward. Members can buy food and use the canneries to can their food for food storage, which is one of the programs of the Church. The leaders of the Church recommend that each family keep a one year supply of food for emergencies, and rotate through the supply to keep the food from going bad. The Church was losing money on a lot of these farms and have sold off a lot of them. I'm not sure how many they still have, but I know they sold the farm that I worked on when I was younger.
