topical humor is basically when you combine current events with a humorous spin or base your entire comedy routine on something very relevant to what is happening in our world today. A tv example would be John Stewart or Steven Colbert - both take political current events and fuse humor into it. One of my favorite funny websites, Cracked.com, does the same thing online. They do a news on cracked bit that offers a short funny video of current events with a humorous spin. They also incorporate some of these methods with their captions in their funny photos.
