  • The penguins are going to need to regroup until they have another shot at the cup. With the salary cap in place, they knew they weren't going to be able to keep a high priced player like Hossa with all the emerging talent on their team that need new contracts. It's fitting that the Red Wings picked him up. Detroit is the model of a properly run hockey club from the top down, they draft well and have always had great value players. Zetterberg was a 7th round pick and Daytsuk was a 6th! Penguins got some talent because they were in the bottom for the better part of a decade and got consistently high picks. Detroit wasn't afforded that luxury and they still come out ahead.
