  • If total album sales are a measure, then 1972's Trilogy is the best.
  • Me and my friends were quite into ELP in the 70's when they came out. Brain Salad Surgery was a favorite.
  • I also think Brain Salad Surgery was their best effort, but I also have a soft spot for the Pictures at an Exhibition album.
  • Does this thing work?
  • I think that "Tarkus" is by far Emerson, Lake and Palmer's best song, but the other side of the record isn't so great. "Brain Salad Surgery" was their best album because all of the tracks are worthy efforts, especially Karn Evil 9 - all impressions. These guys were an excellent band, and they don't get the long time praise that they deserve. Sure ELP survive on their past glories, but so do most 70s progressive rock bands. I hope they reunite and tour again in 2010, because I'll still go to see them in concert. Sincerely, An Old Progressive Rocker
