Now I am assuming this because I could not find a note worthy site to back this up but it is written that the original name of the Space Needle was “The Space Cage.” The original name of the restaurant was “Eye of the Needle.” So it is safe I think to say it got it’s name from the restaurant. It was build in the 1940's for the world fair. The theme of the fair was the future. The person that build the needle wanted to make some thing that would make people of space. So he named it the space needle. If you ever go to the space needle you can go up it and read all about it.
