I would probably pick William Defoe or Al Pacino, as both of them are used to dark roles and know how to portray such characters well in movies.
-
Johnny Depp Emo Phillips if you're going for a humorous devil. Jon Lovitz if he makes a brief appearance. He is powerful in small doses! Keith Richards or Nick Cave might be able to pull it off.
-
I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone but the Devil himself. Heath Ledger is dead because he couldn't sleep after playing the part of the Joker in The Dark Knight. (Sleeping pills.) I would hate to see someone really play the Devil. I don't know how he sleeps at night!
-
jack Nicholson. I saw him cast as the Devil in that film with Cher...he was perfect. He always gave me the creeps.
-
<tries to erase Al Pacino from mind> Ok... there! I would maybe go with Clive Owen I picture the devil in this movie as being somewhat young, charismatic and yes, deceitful. Owen generally plays those types of characters very well.
-
I'd go with typecasting. Jack Nicholson. He does it SO well.
-
Ray Wise is an awesome Devil in "Reaper". I'd cast someone like that, if not him
-
Tim Curry, Again!, He portraited the best devil ever. ( Even though he was called Darkness)
-
None other than Randy Hickey himself, Ethan Suplee. Bet he'd be an awesome dark lord.
-
Keifer Sutherland just does evil so well!
-
Robin Williams
-
Dick Cheney, he is playing the role well.
-
It would have to be someone that can play amoral, not really evil. I'd vote Charlie Sheen or Patrick Stewart.
-
Cillian Murphy. It might just be his oh so very Hannibal Lecter-esque performances in Batman Begins and Red Eye, but I think he's very eery in appearance somehow, and has this air of softspoken malevolence that I like in my portrayals of Satan.
-
Alan Rickman
-
I think Christopher Walken would do well based on his performance in Prophecy plus he's just a good actor all the way around. ~ For a twist and a grizzled, resentful play on he character, I think Robert Duvall could pull it off well. He's an all time great and has the piercing eyes that would work well for the look.

G'day Babycakes Deux, Thanks for your question. If it was a comedy, Rowan Atkinson may be a good choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFGrQMD6Uqc Regards

Someone just pointed out the 2nd best portrayal. Robert Deniro's Mr. Louis Cyphre {Angel Heart}
-
How about Anthony Bourdain
-
Al Pacino. He's good with evil guy parts.
-
I would have to say Al Pacino, he played the devil in "The Devils Advocate" He did a good job.
-
Dick Cheney He wouldn't need to act that much.
-
Al Pacino
-
VINCENT D'ONOFRIO He was so creepy in The Cell, and he can do anything! He's the most underrated actor in America.

Ain't he a dream? Creepiness aside, of course...lol.

Weslie Snipes. His white teeth combines with black skins can be really scary with expert make-up. Put a long and shiny teeth and a long hair maybe. Then give him a cat's eye.
