Living in Texas my whole life, this is gonna sound plumb tropical, to most folks, but ... we did have a fairly hard winter (for Texas) shortly after I got married in 1980. We had a few night time temps in the upper single digits, and lower double digits. The absolute coldest I remember was 9 degrees F. It was so cold (for us), and I lived in a mobile home (trailer trash, I guess some would call me), and in hard freezes, we had to wrap ALL exposed water pipes with "heat-tape". I had just taken a shower, and went out to make sure the heat-tapes were working. When I got back in, my wet hair had FROZEN! It was hilarious! So, officially, it was measured as 5 to 7 degrees (depending on the actual source).
