  • Hmm... I agree with Brian... If you think of what has replaced poetry - music and film - then Shelley's statement holds substance. Where once we may have communicated via poetry, in this our 21st century we watch movies or listen to music and we... drive, sit on the bus, walk, jog etc etc down the street listening to music (which is really poetry with a melody). Shelley's words were probably true for his time and I do think that they remain (at least) partially true, if one thinks laterally about it.
