  • I think for certain circumstances it should be permitted. like incest or rape or if the mother is in danger of dying if she was to carry the child.
  • Yes. In my opinion, it's a civil right on the same level as freedom of speech
  • Good luck with that one! There are so many people who wish to impose their will on other people in the name of so many different things. The fact is that the civilised world that is not hamstrung with religious beliefs says "Yes". There need to be correct safeguards so that a genuinely viable foetus is not killed, and people need to understand that there are real emotional implications and considerations for future fertility. And then it should go ahead in proper, hygienic conditions. Going back to the Back Street Abortionist is all that would happen with prohibtion
  • it depends on the situation but i believe if you created it you should take responsibility for it however that may be
  • I am against abortion, but at the same time support people's rights to do so. There are legitimate reasons where it may put the mother at risk and I think everyone has the right to protect themselves before others. To me, that seems selfish that you would protect yourself over your baby, but it is a right we should all have. If it can be proven that the child will most likely not survive the pregnancy himself, it may be a better option as well, I like this idea even less but who would want to bring a baby into this world if it was going to die immediatly? Will people still go out and get their 'abortions' done anyways? Like someone already mentioned, will we just have a much less safe form of abortion being done? Will women who do not want their children now purposely drink, smoke and do drugs in hopes to have a miscarriage to avoid the abortion? What if a woman was raped as someone already mentioned? What about the cheating woman uncertain and unprepared? As I got further into this answer, these are answers that I agree less with, but must respect people's decisions. In the end of things, if it is wrong, these people will be punished and be living with guilt. Hope this helps, and remember that I do not support abortions. This is also a horrible debate topic (not for me, but for many others) for the fact that people have forced thoughts on this and are 100% stuck to that and will not consider any other possible opinion or idea. Hope this helps however; I really don't mind giving my opinion and taking criticism on it.
  • All Christians will disapprove of abortion. They believe that a human soul is present from the moment of conception and it is seen as disobeying the commandment ‘Do Not Kill’ if abortion takes place. Some people may argue that the case is necessary in some circumstances as the woman who is having the abortion may want it for a valid reason; she may have been raped and had no decision into bringing the baby into the world. Another reason would be that the baby would most likely end up with a mutation and it would be very hard to raise them up. However, some Christians believe that the baby is a gift from God and a sign telling the mother to raise that baby up as it could be her vocation. The Church of England will support the UK law of abortion but will not accept abortion to be used as a method of birth control. (Lol Please read this, even though im only level 1 :)
  • I personally think it should be permitted. Not everyone in this country believes in god or Christianity, prohibiting abortion sounds un-democratic to me. It should be the parents' choice, not the mass. Relating this topic to religion doesn't right to me, not that I don't respect religion.
  • It is permitted, do you mean should abortion be banned.
  • Well, I am not by any means pro-choice (unless there are special circumstances around it)...But, if abortion is outlawed, desperation could cause women to take drastic, and even deadly measures, to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy. So while I don't agree with the practice, Its better than the alternative, of women using foreign objects, or having someone beat them or worse to try too lose the baby..
  • no not at all you shouldnt have sex if you dont want a baby and heck just think your killing a innocent baby what happend if your mother killed you
  • Let me answer this by saying, NO, and the resaon why is that the devil is trying to kill the the babys before they are borned, seeing that God could use the child later on in life, to do the will of God. This took place in the bible times as well, and it's still taking place even in our times.
  • Yes, it should stay legal. Too many women have died getting illegal abortions. And accidents happen during sex; if a condom breaks, should that young girl or woman have to keep a pregnancy going?
  • Abortion is permitted. What bothers me is the fact that people even consider allowing a government entity to have the power to think it can give permission. It is not the government's responsibility to even enter into the discussion of what a person chooses regarding any issue concerning their own body! The government exists to keep our borders sovereign and conduct the business of the people in as minimal a way as possible. It is not the purpose of government to find its citizenry in error, it is the duty of the citizen to find the error of its government!
  • Yes, if you don't believe in it then do not take advantage of the service. There are a lot of things that I don't like that are legal, I just don't partake.
  • absolutely yes.
  • In any civilized society abortion would not be permitted. We are living in very barbaric times indeed.
  • of course. some people aren't able to raise a child personal and financial issues. why bring a child into this world if you can't support it?
  • abortion is so very wrong
  • Nah (it rhymes with car).
  • That all depends on the circumstance. If a woman was raped and impregnated, then i think she should be able to get an abortion without being critized for it. Most other situations however, I can't say I can personally permit it. It is in a way murder, however at the same time, what about having the freedom in this country to do what you want with your body?? Don't forget also that our age as people starts the day we are born...not when we are contracepted. If we are not yet alive is it really murder??? Are women's rights no longer as important? This is such a touchy subject and there is no black and white answer.
  • yes, woman should have the right to make decision on her body
  • NO ONE HAS THE "RIGHT" TO TAKE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER. 99% of pregnancies occur because of a woman's choice. the other 1% or so are rape cases. the pro choice argument is hardly valid. even in the case of rape, someone chose to create this life. im not saying it isnt hard for the mother, but murder only compounds the situation. if the mom does not want it, she can put it up for adoption. my family would never tolerate the loss of a family member regardless of how it came about. im a christian, too, and the issue IS NOT about religion. IT IS ABOUT HUMANITY. it is also about our attitude. an 8 week old fetus can be legally aborted, but an assault on a woman carrying a 2 week old clump of cells could have someone convicted of murder, as long as the family was looking forward to the child's birth. hypocrosy at its finest. science has proven that a fertilized egg has everything in place for a full grown functioning human being. the term viable is also defined as having the potential for growth and development. every fertilized egg has this potential and should be considered viable. if you took us out of our habitat and launched us into space without life sustaining equipment, we would no longer be viable. why is it different for a baby in its womb habitat? if left alone, it is viable. btw, babies feel incredible pain as early as 8 weeks. some people say that without a brain or heart or both, there is no life. how do you get a brain or heart from something that is not living? others say that before such and such a time, it is just a clump of cells. isnt that what we all are? how many cells make a baby? 2? 100? 1000? when did you first become a human? how many cells did you have when it happened? there are some readers out there who are products of rape, and most of them are grateful to be alive. if you really want the answer to this question, look up abortion survivors
  • if you want the truth, look up abortion survivors. they will tell you more than i ever could
  • yup. I think so.
  • i dont think i could have one done unless it was life or death choice but thats my choice, and every woman should be given that choice to make for them self.each of us has to live with the choice we make and should not be judge by others for it.those who beleive in a god should let god judge, its not your job to judge for god, its your job to support, accept and forgive if you cant do that dont preach.
  • Yeah, there's nothing wrong with it. If I was to try and be philosophical about it, I would say that the fetus does not have any sort of consciousness...it doesn't know where it is or what it is. I mean, how many people remember what it was like to be a fetus? So go ahead and abort them, I'm sure they won't care. And if you were to say that they do care and that abortion is wrong because it doesn't give the potential baby a chance at life or whatever, then I would also expect any non-pregnant women to be wrong-doers. After all, they are not giving any potential babies a chance at life either.
  • I have always been pro choice, but felt that to many women used abortion as birth control. But I have to say, reading all the religious dogma and murderer statements I am changing my mind and wanting to say let them have as many abortions as they want for whatever reason they want. When so called religious people have no compassion whatsoever for the plight of a woman and just want to force her to carry a fetus for nine months go through birth and give it away I worry about the world. They yell and scream murder but where are they taking in all these unwanted children they would force on the world? Are they in the delivery room with the raped 13 year old? Makes me very sad. It also makes me feel more and more that instead of being agnostic I should be an atheist.
  • yes you should get to cosse what happens to your body
  • well in my opinion... i believe that if u aint ready for no kid then dont open ur legs... if the girl was woman enough to go ahead and have sex the she should be ready...
  • Of course. It's a medical issue. It's a parasite that is a threat to the live of the pregnant female. If she doesn't wish to take the risk, no one has the right to force her to do so. We don't have the right to take someone's kidney to saving a dying individual either.
  • I believed that woman should have the right to do whatever she wants with her body, but I changed my mind after I had an abortion. I thought I was doing the right thing but sure enough I regret it, just as I had read many woman do. It's a person's choice but in my opinion it should be limited to certain cicumstances. I wish I could turn back time and have my baby but now I can't do anything about it but grief. Everyone should take a deep breath and really think things through and make the right decision, whatever it may be.
  • It is hard to say especially in the case of incest and rape etc. I think in the case where women say it is their body and so it is their choice, I don't agree that abortion should be premitted. The choice they made with their body was to sleep with someone. Knowing the possible consequence of their action I feel they should have to live with the outcome.
