This happened to me two Fridays ago on my way to work. It makes me want to crap my pants.
-
Terrible. I've gone into the ditch twice because I didn't salt my driveway (done now). It's not fun getting a couple people to help push me out.
-
time to test the ABS

Initially "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" Eventually "Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

If you know it's icy you just don't drive. The wheels don't just go around they slip and slide. Nothing for the tread of tyre to grip. And it can be your very last trip. Depends where you end up I suppose. So No I don't drive on icy roads and I definately avoid driving in the snow.
-
I try to avoid it. Luckily in Vancouver we rarely have icy roads..just wet roads:)
-
If I can avoid it, I avoid it at all cost.
-
slip n slide!
-
It makes me drive like a little old lady. And that means very slow. (Although some old ladies drive real fast!)
-
Is my life or that of someone else worth risking just to get to point B? Nope. I avoid it.
-
I am on the road for most of the day..every day. I'm pretty much used to it now:P Black ice is another thing though
-
I don't if I can avoid it. Unfortunately, there are times when you have no choice. I drive carefully. It's the other people on the road you gotta watch out for. Some people never see the need to drive any differently when the road is wet or icy (or if it's foggy, like it was one day last week). I drive and SUV with 4WD, so I'm fine in snow..and I'm used to it. But 4WD does help on ice...I've found that out! I've spun my Jeep a few times!
-
If there is an ice storm, I generally stay home. I have driven on ice so many times in my life, and I have learned that it is NOT worth it.
-
We don't get a lot of ice here so most everyone does not do well on icy roads. If I know, or think, there will be a chance for ice, I get everything I think I will need for a couple of days and stay off the roads. I would only attempt them in an emergency.
-
What a rush. I love to be challenged. You're not having fun 'til you slip 'n' slide!
-
scared
-
I don't think anything scares me more, even though we've got a super car with great tires that I know does real well. I'd just rather stay home and avoid at all costs. I hate when I'm driving on one side of the highway and I see all these other cars across from me spinning and drifting down into the median. Scary!!!
-
I don't do it. I've had some close calls or times when I couldn't even drive forward because the hills were too steep.
-
It scares me and I hate it.
-
I avoid it if at all possible. I can handle snow, but ice is unpredictable. Even if you are being sensible, you can't be sure other drivers know what they are doing.
-
I have done it for so long, I am used to it. The only difference...I drive a lot slower...for my safety and others. I wish everyone else thought about the "other guy" on the road.
-
Far from happy about ice but at least it keeps the "white knuckle" drivers at home.
-
Sometimes you don't have any choice; but after living for four years in Alaska, where the roads are covered in black ice for six months out of the year, I think I know what I'm doing...
-
Avoid at all costs.
-
Fun, if you have the correct vehicle/driver combo!
-
My husband grew up in a snowy icy place, I let him do the driving. If he is not around I either walk or stay home.
-
The only thing that scares me about driving on an icy road is what the other driver might do. If I'm alone, I'm fine.
-
Makes me nervous, because I don't have much experience with it..
-
I have carbide studded snow tires on my car and my other vehicle is a 4x4 and I put mud and snow tires on it so I'm more concerned about the other drivers on the road who think they don't need snow tires in the winter. We have snow for about 6 months out of the year so you learn how to drive in bad conditions. I think it's worse when you have 6 or 8 inches of slushy snow or when the plows can't keep up and you end up with snow ruts on the roads.
-
It's a road. I drive it. Those who can't drive on ice should not drive AT ALL! I am a born-and-bred New Englander. Driving on ice is not only an essential skill, it's an instinct. We all do it. The TRUE danger isn't the ice; it's all of the incompetent flatlanders.

don't bother me, I live in Quebec, HA HA!
