  • Mine are all the same size, should I be worried?
  • I'll take a wild guess and say...the tire companies are supported by the car manufacturers whome prefer people buying their tires only. But all the tire companies probably all the same sizes of tires at their disposal...hmmm. The biggest reason would be how high off the ground the car is and how small/large the tire would have to be not to affect the cars preformance. Tires also play a big factor in car appeal...meaning they would probably want the best looking tire size for that praticual car.
  • Your question could be interpreted in one of two ways, so I'll address both aspects. The reason different cars have different size tires is that they have different weights, weight distributions and performance parameters. A 2200-lb Mazda Miata requires very different functionality from its tires than does a 6200-lb Cadillac Escalade. If you are referring to having different size tires on a single car, this is done (almost without exception) to rear-wheel-drive cars with rear tires being wider than the front ones. This is done to improve the traction characteristics of the rear tires under acceleration. You can observe this practice at its logical extreme by looking at dragsters (Huge rear tires, smallest possible front tires).
  • I know an expert in tyres. Goes by the name "Ice Man." Let's kindly ask him to send us to sleep, er, I mean to give us the answer.
