When they start to feel uncomfortable with it. My teenaged son stopped about 2 or 3 years ago and instead likes to be the one to pass out the candy. My dauther, who is 11 and in 6th grade, said she probably won't go this year but would like to go to a friend's house and just hang out for the evening. of course my 8 year old is still all for it.

When I was 12 or 13, one of my friend's neighbors happily handed us our candy and said, "Now, girls, this had better be the last year I see you out here." I was pretty offended at the time...the end of 2 months worth of free candy every year was going to be awful! But in retrospect I think she was right. Once kids get to high school I think it's time to say goodbye to the pillowcase and trade it in for some punch and party games.

I do not believe they should ever be encouraged to threaten people with violence unless bribed with treats! It is teaching wrong values at any age!
-
5 - the entire idea of trick or treat is bad - 'Give me something or else!'
-
why stop?
-
When people put zit removing products like Clearasil in their Halloween bags instead of candy might be a good time to stop. :/ XD
-
NEVER!
-
By about 14, then it's time to stop
-
Seven.

When they start to feel awkward about it. I quit when I was eleven or twelve, but it wasn't really an adjustment because I still got to dress up and take my younger siblings (same thing, really, except any candy you end up with is pity candy from siblings). My sister quit two years ago and I was crushed! I'm still getting used to it.

i think they should stop when they a ready saying i am just a 5th grader but my brother says i should stop too but i won't until i am a adult
-
I'd say when they are old enough not to need an adult chaperone.+4

Any kid any age is smart to go trick or treating. Its free stuff :) thats my view on it.
-
I don't know who I heard this from, but... "You stop going trick-or-treating once you can't walk anymore."
-
I think about 12
-
I think they should stop after the Halloween during which they were 12.
-
I don't know who ever started this age thing, you stop when you feel like it! thats like asking how old should you be before you don't get presents under the Christmas tree! age is just a number so "giver gas"
-
when you are out of elementary school
-
When you reach puberty.

I would think around age 15. After that it's more fun to party and/or give out candy at your 'haunted porch'.
