Although the rewards are few and far between, when it does happen, its well worth the wait. Being a police officer, i see most of the low-side of life. criminals, prostitutes, and psychotic people. Every once in a while, an event will happen that just makes my day. this is the case that follows: Domestic call. both parents are drug addicts. small 5 year old girl present. parents passed drug test at their home. dcs called, child left with parents. This sweet little 5 year old girl, upon me leaving at my police car, came up to me and gave me a childs butterfly toy bracelt. "if you wear this, you will be safe". its in my police car and will stay there. One more comment made to me, by this little girl, just melted my heart and forever will be remembered. here is what she said as i picked her up and held her in my arms and she put both her hands on my face............ "I just love old cops" I am 64. Wow.
