  • yeah punctuation does have uses. otherwise it would have been erased a long time ago.
  • Two totally different statements, for sure! I vote for the second, by the way! Punctuation is highly important in getting the correct message across, as your example proved!
  • Instead of -- I would have used : The first one needs (a) in order to sound better. A definite article is in order there. Other than that they are two contrary statements.
  • Excellent point. I agree, punctuation is necessary to be able to express oneself in writing accurately. I like the second statement. This question brought a smile to my face.
  • You are right!!But just to be a fly in your ointment maybe ambivalence is intended to keep the reader guessing.
  • This reminds me of "Ann Boleyn walked and talked half an hour after her head was cut off." "Ann Boleyn walked and talked. Half an hour after, her head was cut off."
  • Goes a long way in proving that punctuation is not irrelevant. ;-)

You are kind and generous. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. Will you let me be yours? Gloria. Reading Two: Dear John, I want a man who knows what love is! All about you are kind and generous people who are not like you. Admit to being useless and inferior! Will you let me be?! Yours, Gloria.
  • Punctuation, or lack thereof, is one of my biggest bugbears!!!! I work on a webchat service (not a rude one, honest) and it drives me mad when people just type endless sentences. I cant help them because I dont know what they are saying. BTW, Woman: without her, man is useless :D
  • Yes, I am guilty of that. I am great on paper, but type with one finger, so I am constantly just trying to peck out the words. Funny, my autistic son, who has always been homeschooled (as in self taught) can type faster than I can see. he punctuates and spell perfectly.
