  • 1. Schools, even colleges are all a business. Its why they raise tuition almost every year in college. Would these people come if they weren't paid? Nope. They care about the bottom dollar like any business does. 2. To schools you are just another number. If you finish college, great, they got your money for 4 straight years. If you don't and drop out, they still ended up taking some of your money. They don't care, they will find another body to take your place. 3. Schools are not about learning and education. Its all about memorizing things right, doing hw and projects the way that your teacher wants you to, and standardized tests. They want to measure your intelligence with grades and tests. But intelligence and who you are as a human being can't be captured within a grade scale. If you can make it without college, great. However, its always good to have that safety net of a college degree. Major in something you will use. I'm a double major myself. One major is for a degree that I will earn money with. The second major is for something that won't make as much but a subject that I love. Heck, maybe even one day if I get great at it then I can make a living at it. Always keep your options open. Oh and don't hate learning just because of school. Keep a curious and open mind, go out into the world and learn about the things that interest you, you don't have to stick just to the topics that they give you in school. Learning is supposed to be a fun thing, not a drudgery. I do believe that schools suck the curiosity out of people and curiosity is the thing that makes people want to learn more about something whether its art, music, politics, literature, etc. Don't let them ruin that for you. I recommend this book, "The teenage liberation handbook" by Grace Llewellyn and "Dumbing Us Down" by John Taylor Gatto.
