I was a sports junkie, as well as playing in the yard with my brothers. We usually acted out movies, live Ben Hur and fight like gladiators, or any of the WWII movies. I would dig a foxhole and have some old army helmet liner I got from the Army surplus as a kid on my head. My dad being an old Korean war vet was always part of the action. I had some little star sticker one time on my helmet, like a general, and when I headed into the kitchen one time to get something to drink my dad was sitting at the table reading. He jumped up and snapped a salute as I was well versed in Robert Mitchum's character in "The Longest Day," I responded, " Carry on, carry on." He then sat back down and continued reading. I miss those days.
